The Talking Dog is a unique and amusing way of teaching your dog basic communication skills. It’s a great way for your dog to learn to talk, both to you and to others and also to learn the distinction between saying “no” and “OK.” You’ll discover a vast vocabulary that goes beyond the basic A-B-C’s dogs can utilize. You’ll discover fascinating facts about dogs and their language through this video. The more you play this video with your dog the more it will help them master talking. As they say, they are listening!
Hans Pastusz Rohen, an animal behaviorist and award-winning behaviorist, created the Talking Dog video. He is an expert in understanding the psychology of dogs and how they utilize complex math to solve problems. His discoveries have earned him many awards including the 1999 Breakthrough Award from the American Psychological Association and the Royal Society of Medicine, both of which are located in London, England.
Von osten’s book The Talking Dog reveals a strange anomaly in which dogs can comprehend the meaning of words , even if they have never heard them before. He states that his discovery of the talking dog phenomenon is due to the fact that dogs are able to make use of the same type of brain processing that humans do when processing verbal information. He discovered that dogs make use of an illusion called the stumpfog. It’s basically a fancy name for what is known as the “illusory hearing system”. This is basically the reason that people are able to comprehend speech even though they’ve never heard of it before.
Von Osten, in The Talking Dog that dogs utilize the same method as humans do to process spoken words. The key to this is their ability to connect certain sounds (like the clicks and snaps in a speech) with a corresponding visual image. In essence, dogs make the same sort of connections as people when trying to make meaning of the visual information they’re getting.
To test this, von osten recorded a number of dog sounds and then asked the owners of dogs to watch a video of the same sounds being spoken by a person. The owners were asked to rate how accurately they comprehended the meaning of the video. These results were amazing The more effort the dog owner put into hearing the sound the better they judged the speaker. Dogs process video and audio in the same way. The dogs were also able to recall the names of speakers they heard.
In addition to talking dogs, von Osten also has written books on the subject. The book What Every Dog Owner Needs to Know provides information on the experiment with talking dogs as well as explanations of the theory. The theory is explained in detail and the number of slips and buttons used are detailed in that book. The concept isn’t entirely novel, but it is new to dog owners and many of the details are new to me too. I have read that other researchers have replicated similar results, but I am not an expert in this area and cannot confirm its validity.
In conclusion, although the book isn’t an attempt to replicate the scientific research behind the Talking Dog phenomenon, I find it to be an interesting read and think that it is worth your time. I am not a scientist, therefore I cannot verify the accuracy of any claims in the book. I am, however, a very big fan of the concept and am sure that others who love dogs will see this as a fantastic way to gain knowledge about the behavior of their dog and much as smart Hans canaries can waggle their way through an interview, my dog is able to speak to anyone anytime, saying whatever comes to his mind. It is truly amazing and I’m looking forward more books from this author maybe in the style of his “Dog Whisperer” series.
